Photos from the holiday
Vassilis Makris
Vassilis Markis is a Greek photographer. In 2011 he started working in a culture centre in Athens, hosting art events and trying to spread action though art, he even held an event in the National Greek theatre in support of helping the culture crisis.
Before I went to Greece I had a look at some Greek photographers, as I came across Markis his photos caught my eye straight away, these reason for this is that he has various different types pf photography, for example he does his normal street photography and also he takes photos of people in random places doing stances that have nothing to do with the place. The thing that caught my eye was my personal favourite; street photography, I enjoyed looking at the photos because I find looking at the difference between the British and the Greek streets, I feel like it shows the difference between countries and it's intriguing to see what the normal is for other people. When I went to Greece I went to a island called Rhodes, it is a very old fashioned town so therefore I couldn't really take a cool street photos similar to Makris, instead I just took photos of anything that caught my eye. Most of the time we stayed at the hotel resort so I didn't get much time to take photos, however when we did go out I tried to but when we went out we were normally in a rush to get a booking for a dinner table so I guess I had a task of photographing the things that stood out to me quickly without perfecting the photograph. |
