WHAT IS PHOTOGRAPHY
Photography isn't just something to do if you're bored, it is something that you know you want to do with a passion and photography gives you a type of thrill when you know you can do whatever you want with the camera and you can try as many things as you want and can go beyond what you think is unique. Photography is important because it can bring out a creative side to you that you never thought you had before and the camera brings freedom to to you where you can photograph anything you want and their are no limits.
The main skills you need is to be brave with your work and even if you're not sure something will make a good photograph you should just do it because you never know, it could turn out to be something amazing and even if you think it isn't great in another person's eyes it could be a masterpiece. Another skill would be to just go for it and not be lazy, this is because you can't expect to be a top photographer by just being lazy and not going anywhere you would have to be prepared to explore new places and try new things to capture unique photos. Another skill is to have they eye for photography, this is something you can't control as it will come naturally to you, this is when you start walking and seeing things and just think to yourself "oh that would make a great photo".
In photography there are many different genres such as sport, nature, drone and fashion, even if don't think your photo doesn't have a genre, every photograph will always fall into a certain category, for example if you take a photo in the park that will fall into the genre of nature. In my opinion I don't a photographer should go out taking photos looking for a certain genre, I believe they should go out and whatever catches they're attention they should photograph it and maybe after a session of going out taking photos maybe then you could put them into different genres and overtime you could see what interests you the most.
A lot of people take photos for different reasons, a lot of people take photos to capture the memories that they can look back on when they're older and show to their kids and younger generation in their family, however they are just photos of family and friends, some people go out with a camera and have the intention to photograph anything that captures their eye or something that they believe will make a good photo and these people are the ones who are dedicated have a passion in photography and one of the best things about photography in my opinion is that you can just go anywhere or you can just stay indoors and go on your camera on your phone and just photograph anything and you don't to do any extras and its a simple, relaxing hobby.
One massive way photography helps us see the world is through social media and the internet , for example you can search up anywhere on google and there will be photos of the place and that helps us in how to make our photos different and unique to the other ones on the internet. Another way is through social media, for example on Instagram you can find anyone from different countries and places and they'll have photos of the places you are looking for. No, you cannot trust a photograph, this is because any photograph can be photo shopped or edited by anyone and the thing is nowadays it's so easy to edit photo and you won't be able to tell because technology is so advanced. You can't even trust the photos in the news because one photo doesn't tell the whole story because you don't know the background through a photo.
The main difference between photography and other types of visual art is the freedom you have with it, when I say this I mean the fact that you are fully in control of what you are doing and there are no limits to what you can and can't do. One difference is that with things such as painting you can do it whenever you want and there is no rush to finish the painting, however in photography in some situations you have to capture the moment and if you miss it you can't have the photo or take it again, for example if you see a bird fly and you want to get picture you have to have quick reactions. and try and capture the picture before it flies away. Another similarity between photography and other visual arts is that it is something that you aren't pressured into doing and doing different types of art puts you in a different mindset where you are only focused on the art and the creativeness about it and how you can improve and go to the beyond and you're not focused on the other stressful things in your life.
One place where you can't take photos are in sacred places such as mosques, churches and temples, although a lot of these scared places are full of culture, beautiful things, it can be shown as a sign of disrespect to exploit it as sacred places are made for people to pray and communicate to their gods, not to take photos and not focus on the religion. Another time when you cannot take photos is someone is upset or in need of help, this is because it is very disrespectful and sometimes you can't just think about what you think is a good photograph, you have to think about the persons feeling and you have to do the morally right thing at go talk to them and help them. Another pace where you can't take photos is in the cinema because there could be claims of copyright and you can get fined for that.
When you've taken a good photograph you'll know, it's hard to explain but you'll just look at the photograph and smile. Even if you don't think your photo is good someone's else with a different taste may think it's amazing that's why in my opinion it is hard to take a "bad photo". There is no best place to take a photo, it's about what you make of a place and the effort you put in to take a photo, you can be in a prison cell and still take a better photo than someone who is out in Paris because the person in prison will be making the most of what's in prison. It also depends on what genre of photography you are going for, for example if you want to get pictures of skyscrapers then a good place to go would be central London. The thing that interests me about photography is that you can do whatever you want. The thing that frustrates me the most is the days where you can't seem to get a good photo.
