personal project
For my project I want to have a similar concept to the derive, I want to get on a bus or train to different locations I haven't been before and take loads of photos, I like this idea because I have done it before and it feels refreshing seeing everything for the first time, I am going to try and aim for lower class places because from previous experience I can tell I like certain things about them such as rubbish, bins and graffiti.I have done this before and I really like the idea of it because everything is so new to you and anything can catch your eye for the first time and you can really tell what draws you in for a photograph.
These are same of the photos I took whilst on my derive to Stratford, there are many more photos and I noticed within the collection I have a habit of capturing similar things such as abandoned things, angles, compositions, framed rubbish, close up and signs. These are the things that I have mainly been torn to and this is what I photograph for my project, these things are mainly in lower class places where everything doesn't look great and is not treated right and photographing poorer places that has seem to stand out to me.For my photo book I want a collection of places I went, I want a section for each place and I would like to write on the book text about the places I went which could be facts about the place, history or anything else. I want my book to be made from a professional website and I want it to look professional.

David O'mara
Recently I have looked at a project called If you can piss by David O'mara, in this project O'mara takes photos of his everyday life in his construction site, when he talks about these photos he says he wants to capture the forgotten moments and I think he displayed this excellently by taking photographs of things people wouldn't traditionally take photos of which is the main reason I like these photos.

Jim's terrible city
Jim's Terrible City is a photo book by James Bollen. Bollen went to Shanghai after his father died as he was originally born there, he wanted to explore there because he felt a connection towards. I really like these photos in the book because it is kind of the same concept I want to do for my project without the reason and connection to it, he is just photographs random things in Shanghai and doesn't have a main thing he wants to capture.

Final piece
Selecting the photos for my book
This is my final piece for my personal investigation, this photo book took a long time for me to finally produce, this is due to the fact that I completely had no idea what order I wanted put it in, therefore for a lot of the lessons I ended up messing about on blurb putting the photos in different orders and new layouts, however when I found this layout it just felt right and suited well to the book, the one thing I struggled with was putting a lot of the photos full size, this is because there were so many I wanted to make full size to make the small details stand out in photos, however I wanted versatility with the layout. The title The Avenues came from a song that I like, it fits wells because avenues are places and in this book are many different avenues. Overall I am very pleased with this photo book and it has definitely gave me an insight on what I want to do next year for my personal investigation, next year I want to do a similar theme, however places when they are busy then when they are empty, I like this idea because it shows the two sides of a place and a photograph.
side piece photobook
This piece was something I made on the side, the idea came by when i was looking at my old weebly website from secondary and I done the same thing with maps for one of my projects. I thought it would be a good idea to do because the different random colors suit the photo theme of the streets, especially the photos that I have taken as they are all different and all have a burst if colors them. I made this zine by putting my photos over each other and printing them out in different colors, the colors and order of everything was random, I made it random because I knew then I would not waste most of my time trying to make it perfect in how I want it, making it random was a good choice and I definitely don't regret it. overall I am happy with this little side piece, it was something I could do in lessons where I had nothing to do and it meant instead of wasting time I made another good photo book.
